Dennis Mairena
Indigenous Peoples Specialist | Latin America
Originally from the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, Dennis is an agricultural engineer that holds postgraduate degree in business administration and a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies: Education-Environment-Development, from York University, Toronto Canada. He has worked more than 40 years in the development of post conflict indigenous communities in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Venezuela, Colombia and Bolivia, working with UNHCR, UNDP and the Fund for the Development of Indigenous Peoples of Latin America (FILAC). He has followed the UNFCCC for more than 15 years as a member of the International Indigenous Peoples Caucus for Climate Change (IIPFCC).
